Quality Assurance Program Information
Quality Assurance is the process of identifying personal and/or practice strengths and areas of improvement, in order to achieve a quality denturist practice. It is not only a self reflective process, but a tool to maintain high standards within your individual practice and as a whole profession.

There are significant changes to the current Quality Assurance Program, specifically regarding the requirement for hours. The new program will no longer require Registrants to complete a minimum number of course hours. Instead, a number of activities will be required in order to better meet personal and practice goals, and objectives.

The new program will involve 3 different activities to be completed each year:

The Checklist

The Quality Assurance Checklist has been designated to touch on a multitude of areas that denturists encounter every day. The checklist will allow each denturist to take some time to evaluate their progress in each area and make comments. This process should not be time consuming, but all areas of the checklist must be addressed.

The Quality Assurance Checklist concentrates on 5 areas that correlate with the quality of patient centered care: Patient Management, Office Management Skills, Communication, Professional Lifecycle, and Self-Evaluation, Reflection and Critical Analysis. The checklist allows you to identify areas you could improve upon and begin setting goals to achieve for the following year. Each year, Registrants are required to complete and submit the Quality Assurance Checklist to the College office.

Quality Assurance Communication Tool

The Quality Assurance Tools are self reflective methods to identify personal approaches to problems, methodology, and solutions. There are no correct answers to the problems or questions. Each tool is intended for Registrants to interpret and critically identify solutions to the problem. Each year, Registrants are required to complete one different Quality Assurance Tool. The Quality Assurance Tools have been broken down into 4 categories: Patient Management, Office Management Skills, Communication, and Professional Lifecycle.

Field Contribution Activity

To increase learning opportunities and provide ways for denturists to support one another, it is vital for professionals to share their knowledge and experiences. The sharing of information enables each denturist to strengthen their skills and create a standard of quality practice. Learning can be accomplished through the sharing of information, verbally or written, or through hands on experience or courses. Each person's learning style is different; therefore, the type of field contribution activity one chooses is a personal choice. A minimum of one Field Contribution Activity is required each year. Registrants are more than welcome to pursue any number of activities; however, to qualify for the Quality Assurance Program, the same field contribution activity cannot be taken within a 3 year period, except for Continuing Education Courses and Study Groups.

The changes to the program better correlate to the Health Professions Act and provide different methods of accomplishing high practice standards for each denturist.
